Preppin' for Valentine's

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I decided to decorate my wall a bit. I created a small banner titled "Poets In Love" and the purpose of it is to present a small variation of love poems in honor of the holiday.
The poems vary in complexity because I know that some of the students tend to have a vast vocabulary and they enjoy being challenged but overall the poems are very simple.

My goal is that from tomorrow up to Valentine's Day week, we will read the five poems and have brief discussions. That final week the students are to hand in a brief 5 sentence reflection on:

• Which poem did they enjoyed best
• Why did they enjoy it
• What they understood from it

The objective is for them to get familiarized with poetry and for them to practice reading comprehension.
