Teaching Greek Mythology

The unit we are currently covering in class is themed "Communicating about Our World". The way I implemented both the theme and our goals was by giving informational text about the Greek Olympian Gods.

Today I brought some pictures to pass around the class as I spoke briefly about the gods.
Then I proceeded to do a motivational activity which consisted on me reading a fable by the famous Greek writer, Aesop.

As the students worked on their articles and its text features I told them that I had a special and pretty cool little something to give them (I had printed all the student names in Greek). This was actually the most interesting part of the class for them, or so they said, because it was more personal and I was able to make a connection of who they are to the Greek culture.

This unit has a allowed great space to integrate History in the English class.
